CT ASMP – Should I Be Thinking About Video

Great to be a part of the CT ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers)…not only is it a wonderful group of photography professionals, but it holds some amazing programs throughout the year.  Last night’s program at Yale was “Should I Be Thinking About Video” by photographer and DP Gail Mooney.  It couldn’t have been more timely with the explosion of web video content, requests for B-Roll, and given all of us with our 5D Mark IIs (still cameras that shoot super sharp video with shallow depth of field options).  We’ve done some pieces already for our client, the Department of Homeland Security, but it made me excited to go out and shoot a promo piece!  A wonderful thing about photography…you never stop learning and there are always new ways to grow creatively.

As I write this post with a cold rain coming down, it’s so nice to look back at Katie and Phil’s beautiful summery wedding at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield, Connecticut from only a few weeks ago.

Katie got ready at the classic Silas W. Robbins House Ben and Breakfast nearby, a gorgeous backdrop for her getting ready pics.  The Webb Barn was decorated beautifully with hanging lights and silvery mirrors in a multitude of shapes.  The Webb Barn is really distinctive with its barn board and gardens and how it blends outdoors and indoors so well…you can see what attracted these two architects to get married here.  And what better to serve at a New England summer wedding than a lobster bake complete with littlenecks, andouille sausage and corn on the cob, all courtesy of A Perfect Thyme Gourmet Caterers.  Croquet and bocce were on tap out on the lawn amidst the mason jars with flowers (from Lane and Lenge-Hi Bob!) and the soft light all around was perfect for photographs.

Really nice people with close-knit, loving families.  Katie and Phil, hope you had a great honeymoon in Italy…thanks so much for having us photograph your wedding!!
