Landon’s First Year Book on Queensberry’s Blog!

Spanning the globe…from way down in New Zealand, our album company Queensberry just featured on their blog the book we made highlighting the first year of life for Landon, the adorable son of Lindsay and Stephen, our friends and neighbors in West Hartford.  Lindsay’s a terrific wedding planner with her Sixpence for your Shoe event business which we work with often.  As for these press printed books, they’re top quality like all Queensberry products and our clients use them for family portraits, engagement shoots and wedding guest books.  More shots here…

Farrell and Darius’s Wedding at the Dauntless Club in Essex CT!

A storm named Irene didn’t deter Farrell and Darius from getting married on August 27th in Essex CT with an outdoor tented reception alongside the docks of the Dauntless Club on the Connecticut River.  Everything came together beautifully despite the hurricane, with the weather holding off until all were safely under the Sperry Tent (OK, so a few hours later things were a little different as these photos show).

Farrell was beaming all day, and looking at the her photos you can’t help but smile.  She looked great in her mother’s classic lace top wedding dress from the 1970s, fitted by Dorothy Staley their good friend and dress designer from Madison CT.  And Darius in his poplin suit (from Essex’s own J. Alden Clothiers) and Vineyard Vines tie looked great as well.  Onto to the reception where Farrell’s father toasted the couple, remarking that parenting Farrell was such a pleasure he’d gladly do it all over again.  And the Maid of Honor read from her “best friend certificate” with Farrell and the list of required boyfriend attributes that she and Farrell made as little girls…just to make sure Darius measured up!

The folks from Thyme to Cook catered New England style with chowder and a raw bar.  The perfect pastel flowers came from the Madison Flower Shop.  The Sultans of Swing, who we’ve worked with before on the CT shore, kept the dancing going strong.  And we have to commend Sperry Tents…these guys are troupers…that night they had to take down 19 tents in the area due to Irene.

Farrell and Darius, great wedding!  Thanks so much and congratulations….glad you got to your honeymoon after all!!

Noelle’s Family Photography at Elizabeth Park in West Hartford

“Just Cate” is a new book by West Hartfordites Noelle and Angela…a “dual memoir of two lifelong friends and the unexpected child who leads them to simply what matters most.”  I photographed the “Just Cate” book cover and website this past spring (I’ll blog these images after the book launch) and got a chance to photograph Noelle’s family during our summer portrait sessions, with images below.  It was lovely to meet the rest of Noelle’s family and see Cate again…Cate and her sisters are a riot with lots of life!

The “Just Cate” book and website launches this fall.  You can follow them on Facebook here to keep posted on the launch!

Paola and Buster’s Backyard BBQ Wedding in Middletown CT!

Paola and Buster’s festive and colorful wedding in August featured so many pretty flourishes decorating their barbeque reception at Buster’s parents’ home in Middletown CT.  I loved their their upbeat color scheme of aqua, red, yellow, orange…beautiful flowers in vases from their garden, ribbons, hearts, cowgirl hats…even a party boy Ken doll who’s traveled the world with their friends!  Got a chance to tour Paola and Buster’s favorite Middletown spots including the classic O’Rourke’s Diner, the Wesleyan University track, and the chapel where they first had a “moment” together : }  Great BBQ from All Smoked Up along with lots of dancing and laughter.  Check out their great ideas for your own wedding.

Congratulations Paola and Buster!!  Thanks for having us photograph your day!!

Vinita and Karthik’s Engagement Party at the Hill-Stead in Farmington CT!

Vinita and Karthik had a beautiful night for their engagement party at the nearby Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington CT.  It was a pleasure getting to know such a nice couple and their families in this warm, loving and fun event.  A highlight was Karthik formally proposing to Vinita in Hill-Stead’s lovely sunken garden during the cocktail hour.  West Hartford’s own Bombay Olive catered the event…I’ve always wanted to try them and the food was delicious.  And the night ended with a crazy dance party led by DJ Bounce!

Congratulations Vinita and Karthik on your engagement!

Amanda and Jefferson’s Wedding at Fox Hollow on Long Island!

Amanda and Jefferson were married at Fox Hollow in Westbury NY in an intimate outdoor ceremony at nightfall on the North Shore of Long Island.  Amanda (in her dress from Ines DiSanto) and Jefferson looked great and have real chemistry with one another.  Their friend and architect colleague served as Justice of the Peace and read a nice poem that Amanda’s brother Andrew had written for the occasion.  Loved the JP’s pronouncing Amanda and Jefferson husband & wife, “by the awesome power vested in me by the State of New York and the UniversalistChurches.com”.  The party then moved inside to the intimate Rat Pack-vibe cocktail room before dinner and dancing in the ballroom.  The string quartet Campanella Ensemble  played from the ceremony to the reception, providing an ideal atmosphere for dining and chatting at the tables.

Amanda and Jefferson, thanks so much for having us photograph your wedding…Congratulations!!

Kim and Pete’s Wedding at The Riverhouse in Haddam CT!

Way before Irene swept through these parts, Kim and Pete were married in the sunshine along the Connecticut River in Haddam at Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam (appropriately named…I snapped a bald eagle soaring overhead).

Kim’s family home in Old Lyme was the perfect relaxed place to get ready down at the CT shore.  Kim is a smiler!  She has a beautiful smile and so easily breaks into a beaming one.  They grew up in Farmington and actually Pete was a camp counselor at Winding Trails where our boys Sebbie and Jude went this summer.  You can tell they live in Boulder, Colorado with their upbeat personalities and love of the outdoors.  Kim and Pete have dated since high school and have a real easy way with one another and at their reception at The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, Kim came to the mic to sing I Will by the Beatles to Pete….so very nice.

The hydrangeas, roses and other nice flowers were from Nancy Ellen’s Garden in Chester and classic cake came from Cakes by Donna in Haddam.

Kim and Pete, so nice to meet you and your families and photograph your wedding!  Congratulations!!
