The Endless Summer.  I used to have that dayglo movie poster on my wall back in the day.  A few weeks ago at Diah and Colin’s wedding, Colin’s brother Andrew–as only one’s siblings can do–recounted the time that his teenage brother, inspired by that surfing movie, handmade his own surfboard…and took to the waters of Long Island Sound on an oddly-shaped, sinking fiberglass creation.  So it was all quite fitting that Colin and Diah were married in the summer, at the seaside–with a gorgeous red-orange sunset for a backdrop at the Riverside Yacht Club in Greenwich CT.

Guests, many who traveled from India, dined under the tent decorated with flowers from Something Special florist,  before hitting to the dance floor bigtime to the high energy sounds of Joe D’Elia and the Allstar Band.   All very relaxed and in-the-moment, right up to the sparkler exit, when Diah &  Colin hopped a getaway on Riverside’s harbor launch.

It was nice to return to the Riverside Yacht Club and a it was pleasure working with Slainte event planners from Madison CT.  Congratulations Diah and Colin and your parents!!  Enjoy your 2nd wedding celebration in India…and thanks for having us photograph your day!

9/10/11 was the lucky day this year in Connecticut, with gorgeous late summer weather for Betsy and Charley’s relaxed, fun and stylish wedding at the Essex Yacht Club in Essex CT.  Betsy in her Vera Wang dress and Charley in his blazer & yellow pants with Vineyard Vines bowtie looked beautiful and so comfortable with one another.  After their ceremony at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Essex, the couple and bridal party jumped on their friends’ wooden powerboat for a Champagne-fueled ride from Middle Cove Marina to the Essex Yacht Club…that’s arriving in style!  Onto the cocktail party on the EYC lawn complete with an ice sculpture of Betsy’s dad’s sailboat adorning the raw bar…with the actual boat docked alongside, fully decorated with colorful signal flags.

Then into the glowing Sperry Tent with great speeches and dances…especially Betsy and her dad’s dance which segued into a high energy version of the YMCA!  More dancing ensued to the sounds of the Red Hot Rhythm Band before the afterparty around the corner at the Gris.  A classic nautically-inspired wedding right in Betsy’s hometown…often called the best small town in America.  Have to also mention the really nice flowers by Yumiko of Hana Floral Design and the beautiful cake came from Ana Parzych Custom Cakes.

Betsy and Charley, thanks so much for having us document your great day…congratulations..hope you had an awesome adventure in Thailand!!

A storm named Irene didn’t deter Farrell and Darius from getting married on August 27th in Essex CT with an outdoor tented reception alongside the docks of the Dauntless Club on the Connecticut River.  Everything came together beautifully despite the hurricane, with the weather holding off until all were safely under the Sperry Tent (OK, so a few hours later things were a little different as these photos show).

Farrell was beaming all day, and looking at the her photos you can’t help but smile.  She looked great in her mother’s classic lace top wedding dress from the 1970s, fitted by Dorothy Staley their good friend and dress designer from Madison CT.  And Darius in his poplin suit (from Essex’s own J. Alden Clothiers) and Vineyard Vines tie looked great as well.  Onto to the reception where Farrell’s father toasted the couple, remarking that parenting Farrell was such a pleasure he’d gladly do it all over again.  And the Maid of Honor read from her “best friend certificate” with Farrell and the list of required boyfriend attributes that she and Farrell made as little girls…just to make sure Darius measured up!

The folks from Thyme to Cook catered New England style with chowder and a raw bar.  The perfect pastel flowers came from the Madison Flower Shop.  The Sultans of Swing, who we’ve worked with before on the CT shore, kept the dancing going strong.  And we have to commend Sperry Tents…these guys are troupers…that night they had to take down 19 tents in the area due to Irene.

Farrell and Darius, great wedding!  Thanks so much and congratulations….glad you got to your honeymoon after all!!
