Hilary and Adam’s Wedding at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme CT
We were very happy to be back at the Florence Griswold Museum (the Flo Gris) in Old Lyme, Connecticut to photograph Hilary and Adam’s outdoor wedding on a gorgeous September Saturday afternoon. With the sloping lawn leading down to the Lieutenant River (popular with kayakers this time of year) the Flo Gris is a just a beautiful place to get married. And Adam and Hilary’s family and friends looked so happy for them, providing the perfect atmosphere for their wedding.
Hilary got ready next door at The Bee and Thistle Inn, another great coastal Connecticut venue. Adam arrived from the Water’s Edge Resort, sporting cuff-links made from Yankee Stadium’s blue seats, circa 1978.
The flowers by Paul David of The Flower District fit the scene perfectly, and the Gourmet Galley served great hors d’oeuvres from oysters to lobster rolls to crabcake sliders. After the Beatles music for the processional and recessional, the Bruce Saunders Entertainment band from New York played a variety of music perfect for dinner (at times the members playing solo during dinner–nice touch) as well as for energetic dancing.
Adam is very into photography and so it’s great that, in addition to our photojournalistic shooting, we shot in a variety of Flo Gris locations from the gardens to the river to “The Rambles” stick art sculpture, and a late night shoot in the Adirondack chairs (miniaturized in Hilary and Adam’s cake topper) down near the river.
Andrew from Well Spun Weddings gathered footage to make a Super 8 film-looking video. And after the wedding, the party moved to the Copper Beech Inn, yet another classic Connecticut Shore restaurant.
Hilary and Adam, thank you so much for choosing us to photograph your wedding!
