About Jane
Hi, I’m Jane! I started IRIS Photography over 15 years ago after a corporate career in the automotive industry that was not nearly as rewarding! I feel my job is to make people feel great about themselves, their lives, and their families. I try to highlight the beautiful moments that we all experience and especially the connections between people. I’m not only shooting for the present but the future – when your kids are grown, marriages are mature, and family members have been added or are no longer with you. My favorite part of my job is being invited into your families and lives for an hour or even a day…often over multiple years!
As for me, people describe me as calm and patient which works well for photographing all ages. I must have an open face because strangers talk to me all the time and I think it’s why kids get comfortable with me super fast.
I read a lot and love to share what my book group is reading and would love to see what you are reading if we can connect on Goodreads. I also love to travel and enjoy the anticipation of planning a trip.
A few things most people don’t know about me — I grew up flying free on TWA until I was 23; I was a camp counselor for week-long canoe trips for 8 summers during high school and college; I went to business school immediately after undergrad and didn’t know what a spreadsheet was; I love to scuba dive but prefer not to go below 35 feet; I took up guitar 5 years ago and dream of being better than I am; I love to play cards and I’m all about apres-ski; I’d rather spend time with fewer people than a big group…but I can throw myself into a late night dance party if the music is right. I really love where I live – West Hartford, CT – with my four wonderful boys: Mike (husband), Sebbie, Jude, and Badger (sweet Mini Aussie Shepherd). I look forward to connecting with you!
