About Mike
Hi and thanks for visiting! I’m Mike and I’ve been photographing weddings and family events for over 15 years, having come from a corporate marketing background. I love working with couples and families to capture what’s unique and real about them in photographs. I’ve traveled around the world and appreciate what we can learn from all cultures, and what unites us as people–weddings in particular transcend geography and show our shared humanity. I’d say I’m an ambivert, right between an extrovert and introvert, which seems to help in both working with people and working alone.
I’ve enjoyed running for years…ran one Boston Marathon and a few half marathons (and two Hood to Coast relay races with 12 friends…very memorable and highly recommended!). I also love skiing with friends, wine from everywhere, history books, comedies, and cooking. Most of all I enjoy traveling with my family–my co-pilot Jane and our boys, Sebbie (20) and Jude (17)–on trips to Turkey, South Africa, throughout Europe, Vietnam and most recently to Morocco.
I’m proud to call West Hartford my hometown and have volunteered in the community with Literacy Volunteers, Cub Scouts, and the West Hartford Center Business Association. Last but not least, I’m a huge dog lover and “parent” to Badger, our lovable Mini Aussie Shepherd.
Back to photography, my style is editorial (story telling) and photojournalistic… focused on emotion, honesty, and intimacy. I strive to stay present while shooting to anticipate moments and expect the unexpected. As Frank Gehry says, “your creativity starts with whether you’re curious or not.”
Here’s what one couple had to say about working with me: “Mike, thank you so much for being such an important part of our weekend. You made everyone feel at home while documenting our wedding–it was like you were part of the family. We love the photos, and sincerely appreciate all the effort you put into our event and pictures.” –Brianna and Wes
Thanks for reading–I’d love to hear about your wedding or celebration!
