Hosting your daughter’s wedding at your home may seem daunting to some (see Father of the Bride) but Debbie and Jack made it all look easy…and beautiful and relaxed.

Allison and Richard’s wedding at her parents’ lovely home overlooking a pond in Darien CT was perfect in every way.  From the leisurely cocktail party to dinner under the Sperry Tent (all catered by Marcia Selden Catering with gorgeous flowers from Westport’s KD&J Botanica);  from the ride to the church in a Packard 1940s woodie station to the extremely high energy dance party…it was all a joyous celebration in great style.

Wonderful speeches from Allison’s father and the brothers on both sides welcomed the couple into an even bigger, loving family.   Then the party amped up and–as Richard recommended in his speech–people got their rage on, ending in a bridal mosh pit of sorts as the Party on the Moon band played on (see final pics)!

Congratulations Allison and Richard!!  Thanks so much for having us photograph your wonderful wedding weekend!

Woodway Beach Club Tented Rehearsal Dinner: Allison and Richard!

Allison and Richard kicked off their wedding weekend in seaside style at the Woodway Beach Club in Stamford CT with a rehearsal dinner hosted by Richard’s parents, Ann Marie and Dick!   The night included islandy touches–a steel drum band, dark and stormy’s, long tables decorated with nautical stripes and a burst of sunflowers by Winston Flowers, all capped with a lobster bake under a sailcloth tent on Woodway’s beach on Long Island Sound.  All with a relaxed, reunion feel punctuated by extremely funny and touching toasts by Richard’s father and their close friends.

The slideshow of Allison and Richard growing up sure made me think of that not-so-distant day when we’ll be watching Sebbie and Jude’s lives flash on the screen at their weddings.  Such a great party…with much more to come…their wedding at Allison’s parents’ home in Darien..stay tuned!  Congratulations Allison and Richard (and Debbie, Jack, Ann Marie and Dick!)  Here are some highlights of the evening, and click here to view lots more photos!

You may have met Liz if you’ve popped in our studio, been to one of our client parties, taken our Photo 101 class, or seen her as a photographer on a job with us!  Liz has been helping us out for almost two years and we are so thrilled for her as CNN World publishes her personal fine art project, “Lost Boys” this week on their photo blog!

Liz Calvi began her series Lost Boys when she returned back to her hometown of West Hartford, CT. Looking to connect with others in similar situations she began photographing a group of boys that she knew from high school. Over time she noticed more boys sticking around their parent’s homes longer than girls. Liz started photographing boys outside her group of friends to examine gender identity in regards to our current economic state and the relationship gender identity has in regards to the American Dream.

Liz graduated with her BFA in photography from University of Hartford in 2012. Prior to that she spent three years at Pratt Institute and worked in New York City. She currently exhibits her fine art and does commission work. Liz is secretary of Connecticut’s chapter of ASMP and gave a lecture at Connecticut’s Historical Society this past spring.
