Often we meet our clients just briefly when they’re planning their wedding, many months before they’re getting married.  You stay in touch with emails and calls, and then a year later you’re together for hours on their wedding day…and you feel like you’re photographing friends you’ve known for a long time.  Sure happened with Michelle and Steven, who–like their families and friends–are such warm and welcoming people.

Michelle and Steven love the Noank-Mystic area, and they began their day in downtown Mystic, prepping at the Steamboat Inn.  Michelle put on her classic dress from Westbrook’s  Michele Bridal Boutique and made her way across the Mystic River Bascule Bridge, where Steven was waiting (luckily Michelle got over the bridge just before it rose up!)…for a beautiful private yet quite public moment in Mystic!

Down the road at the Noank Baptist Church Michelle and Steve were married as the rain came down,  but skies brightened afterwards and we hit the big town…Noank.  Famous for the lobster mecca, Abbott’s in the Rough, Noank is straight out of central casting for a New England coastal town.  We stopped for photos at the 100 year old Carson’s General Store with its ’50s turquoise lunch counter before heading to the Town Beach and Dock at the end of Main Street where kids were catching buckets of crabs.  Then off to the Mystic Yachting Center for their reception amidst the boats, with a trio of really nice toasts from Michelle’s father, Best Man Nick and Joe, Michelle’s Man of Honor.  Too funny all around!  And good advice too.  Joe, who penned some of his speech just moments before, gave these relationship tips:  couples should foster forgiveness, and be open to celebrating and putting in the hard work needed on their marriage.  Well put!

Wonderful wedding…congratulations Michelle and Steve and thanks for having us photograph your day!!  To see more photos please click here
