Recently we traveled down Route 9 to New Britain to meet and photograph Douglas Hyland, the Director of the New Britain Museum of American Art, for the November issue of Connecticut Magazine. It was a pleasure talking with Mr. Hyland and seeing this gem of a museum, which we’d been planning to visit for a long time.  We loved Lisa Hoke’s “Gravity of Color” artwork, a beautiful kaleidoscopic arrangement of thousands of plastic cups dipped in paint alongside vintage paper cups (see our photo below).

If you haven’t been, it’s definitely worth a trip to see the NBMAA—the address is 56 Lexington Street in New Britain CT and website is www.nbmaa.org. And the Museum runs many kids’ classes as well.

The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP)–one of the largest associations of commercial photographers in the US–recently announced its “Best of ASMP 2009” winners….and Jane was among the list for her photojournalistic portraits of the 2009 New York Mets!  Way to go Jane!

This shoot took place in February 2009 at Spring Training in Port St. Lucie, Florida at the Mets’ Tradition Field.  You can read their full interview with Jane about the shoot online at ASMP Bulletin Best Of 2009. These images also won the 2009 PDN Faces Contest this past summer.
