We zipped into Manhattan in early March to photograph a wonderful 25th birthday party…and what a night it was!  Charlotte’s celebration ran the spectrum from lively cocktail party to intimate candlelit dinner to all-out dance party for hundreds of friends to the mash-up sounds of special guest,  The White Panda.  A perfect party in every way!

The venue, Skylight Soho on Hudson Street, was so creatively decorated by Lewis Miller Design with beautiful chandeliers, floral arrangements and stylish touches, cuisine from Olivier Cheng Catering along with a cool custom cake from Lulu Custom Cake Boutique.  It was a pleasure working again with Elizabeth Allen, event planner & designer extraordinaire.  Below are photos from the night (and click here to see more).  Happy Birthday Charlotte!

My Jane is speaking next week at the Inspire Photo Seminar at the Sturbridge MA Host Hotel and Conferenece Center…and giving insights about commercial photography.  As their site says, “Inspire is a 2 ½ day retreat-style conference for professional wedding and portrait photographers. The conference is comprised of sessions on a variety of subjects, from business practices to shooting techniques, led by local professional photographers. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in mentoring round tables, conference sessions, and one shooting workshop each.”

Jane’s going to give the lowdown on how the commercial market works, with an emphasis on marketing yourself and pricing.  There’s a lot of interest in expanding their commercial business among seasoned wedding and family portrait photogs, so this is a timely topic and the right audience.  Jane’s commercial portfolio focuses on environmental portraits with such clients as the New York Mets, GE, and Forbes Magazine, among others.

To find out more check out the Inspire Photo Seminar site!  And to see Jane’s commercial photography go to photojane.com.  Go Jane!!

Won’t you take me to funky town…that would be West Simsbury CT just before Thanksgiving for the Gifts of Love 70s “Night Out in Style” held at Hoffman Honda, head sponsor of the event.  Our friend & uber-planner Adria organized the event, which featured Billy Grant himself cooking up a storm, WTIC funny man Damon Scott as m.c., the sounds of local band, Poor Gordon, and our Jane in the “Lava Lounge” snapping away.  Debbie Wright of Project Closet and Better Connecticut was on hand along with Hair Loft owner Maura Fitzgerald, donating their styling services in the auction.

The guests really got into the look of the 70s, featuring dueling McEnroes…our friend Scott had the short shorts and headband goin’ on…and loved Teresa’s look below!  Nice seeing our friends and we ran into our clients Bill and Arlene whose 50th anniversary party I photographed last summer. Fun night for a local cause: Gifts of Love, based in Avon, helps Farmington Valley folks in need with food, clothing and furniture, especially necessary following October’s snowstorm.  To view more pics click here.
