We first met Amanda and Phil in NYC last year, meandering through their neighborhood in the Village and Meatpacking District on a photo shoot.

After a long winter,  it’s a remarkably balmy June 1st and they are out of the City, up in the Berkshires for a most stylish country wedding, full of wonderful contrasts.  Such as….a peaceful, reflective outdoor ceremony in a meadow, followed by a (somewhat) raucous Berkshires Barn Bash at Gedney Farm with the dance floor pulsating along with the energetic crowd.  Such as…sweet and loving speeches and later, a rousing singing of “Alma Mater” by the dozens of Cornell alums in attendance.  Full of life and enjoying every minute…a joyous celebration all around!

The day started earlier with Phil and the guys donning Brooks Brothers tan tartan ties at Stockbridge’s classic Red Lion Inn while Amanda (loved her sleek dress from Elizabeth Fillmore!) and the girls got ready down the road from Gedney Farm at the New Englandy Old Inn on the Green in New Marlborough MA.  The Hank Lane band was spot-on for the reception–always a great band.  And the lovely flowers in shades of white from the Berkshire’s Crocus Hale florist complemented their wedding’s look and feel.

Amanda and Phil, congratulations and thanks for having us document your day!  Have a wonderful summer!!

Just across the Thames from New London–where they met as undergrads at Connecticut College–Emily and Karl were married on the big lawn of The Branford House in Groton CT on a postcard perfect May day.  Their wedding had a relaxed reunion feel, bringing together Karl’s family & friends from Atlanta along with Emily’s Connecticut contingent.

Loved their artistic touches, starting with the creative floral choices from Blush Floral Design  (gorgeous peonies in shades of pinks and apricot) that complemented the bridesmaids’ dresses.  For tears of joy during the ceremony, guest were provided hand knit hankerchiefs with splashes of peach.  And–another creative idea–Emily and Karl’s guests penned sweet messages and drawings with Sharpies on fabric squares, to be sewn into a “guest quilt”.  Along the same lines, cute pen and ink animal drawings sat atop each table at the reception.

Wonderfully funny toasts–followed by Karl and his fellow singers serenading Emily a capella–preceded the parent dances.  Emily and her father started with “If You’re Going to San Francisco”, that perfectly captured the nostalgia taking hold when you’re dancing with your daughter at her wedding.  Then a surprise twist for Karl and his mom, who started out all serious, then kicked it up to “Burning Down the House”…very fun!

For music, Em’s friend Allegra Collette Levy who’s got a great voice, played during the cocktail party along with her band.  And nice to see Gourmet Galley again, who created delicious dishes including lobster crepes.

A great wedding!  Congratulations Em and Karl…thanks for having us capture it all!  Click here to view many more pics…
