CT Tented Backyard BBQ and Games: Alex’s 30th Birthday Party!
Let the games begin! It’s been mighty chilly this past few weeks in Connecticut…so we all could really use a dose of summer. Go ahead and crank up the heat and take a look at Alex’s fun Fairfield County birthday bash from last summer!
Wonderfully planned by Alex’s family and Elizabeth Allen, the party started in the yard with some serious competition in an assortment of games including the classic egg and water balloon toss and a hula hoop contest, accompanied by a raw bar from Nantucket’s Spanky’s Clam Shack and a great spread of charcuterie. The “piggy” theme was carried throughout, with team shirts and prizes…topped off by a hand-turned pig roast by Chef Jeremy Stanton’s Fire Roasted Catering. We’ll be blogging later in the week on these fab foodies based in the Berkshires.
The party shifted gears later in the evening for dinner under the Stamford Tent–beautifully decked out in bold orangey red by LMD Lewis Miller Design–including more games like pinball and basketball arcade…along with lots of dancing. A super summery birthday…thanks Alex and your family for having us photograph your party! To see lots more photos click here…and think spring!

Cranwell Berkshires Holiday Wedding: Darcie and Adam!
Mother nature came through with lots of snow for Darcie and Adam’s wonderfully wintry wedding in the Berkshires in Lenox MA on December 29th! A beautiful sight…you could imagine a giant snow globe surrounding the Cranwell Resort that night. There’s something about a wedding during the holidays–people are primed to celebrate, and the good cheer and romance really is heightened. That definitely applied to Darcie and Adam and their family and friends.
Their wedding featured a terrific supporting cast with Minister Jonathan Pierce–a super trouper who performed the beautiful ceremony while under the weather, and one the best bands we’ve seen–Kahootz. Superior showmanship, great singers and instrumentalists. And they featured a special act…Darcie’s dad who sang a little Billy Joel to spark up the crowd…nice! Loved the red bouquets and hydrangea floral arrangements from Carolyn Valenti’s Queen Anne’s Lace, and Darcie and Adam’s cake from A.W. Confections featured a classic wedding bride & groom cake topper from Darcie’s parents’ wedding cake.
Congratulations Darcie and Adam…a wonderful celebration–thanks for having us photograph it all! To see many more photos click here…

New Haven Lawn Club Wedding: Betsy and Jon!
Betsy and Jon’s wedding was like an ideal date… that combination of great chemistry, spontaneity, perfect atmosphere, and two people who just love being together. Betsy and Jon met for a first look at the New Haven Lawn Club before driving down Whitney Avenue to the First Presbyterian Church, with its mid-sixties design featuring telephone poles extending to the ceiling…it’s really intimate and funky…kind of like getting married in the woods. At the ceremony a group of Betsy’s girlfriends from Trinity College’s a cappella group, the Trinitones, sang. Wow, just beautiful!
Onto the reception where their art deco touches–from the silver-accented cake to Betsy’s flapper style second dress–matched the 1931 look of the NHLC ballroom. Some serious dancing ensued, along with another awesome performance by the Trinitones…loved it! It was nice photographing again at the New Haven Lawn Club, which fits the bill so well for a fall or holiday wedding.
Thanks Betsy and Jon, you’re a great couple…congratulations! To see many more photos please click here…
