It was so nice to meet Rachel and Mike who journeyed some 5000 miles from Honolulu to Rachel’s hometown of Simsbury, Connecticut for a warm homecoming wedding at The Riverview last Saturday.

Before the ceremony we ventured to the picturesque Old Drake Hill Bridge, which volunteers keep refreshed with colorful flowers all season long, for family portraits.  Speaking of flowers, Rachel’s father owns Willows of Avon florist and provided the lovely flowers for the day.

There was a little French spoke during the reception for the many Quebecois and Ontarians in attendance.  The acoustic duo who played during the ceremony were awesome–beautiful voices, really added a lot to the ceremony.  The great band, Li’nard’s Many Moods band from NYC, came recommended by Rachel’s brother Rob (who’s also a New York musician).  Li’nard’s also play at Club Groove in the West Village–we’ll check them out during Photoplus Expo in October!   And it was really nice meeting Leslie Felner, the coordinator of The Riverview.

Rachel and Mike, thanks very much for having us photograph your day!!

Perfect Mediterranean weather was on hand for Emily and Todd’s wonderful tented wedding at their new home in the New Jersey hunt country last weekend.  This was also their housewarming party–they had just moved into their beautifully renovated home attached to a circa 1752 house.

As their childhood rabbi (who, along with their cantor, had come out of retirement to perform their ceremony) said, their story was like a fairy tale. They grew up in the same town–in fact, Emily’s mother went to high school with Todd’s parents.  They attended Hebrew School and went to Israel as teenagers together.  Fast forward a few decades and Emily and Todd reconnected…and now they were exchanging vows in the backyard of their new home.

Their warm wedding had the feel of a reunion with hugs, laughs and conversation buzzing all around. The great floral arrangements (from Stem NYC) adorned the tables, named for locales around the world and country holding special meaning.  Also in the travel theme, escort cards were fashioned like international luggage tags.

Carmine and crew from Rosa Luca’s Catering provided the excellent food.  Emily’s mother Fran is a wedding planner and made the most aromatic and beautiful textured wedding cake…you could smell the sugar!  And the vintage red velvet curtain Photobooth by Majestic Photobooths was a huge hit.

Emily and Todd, enjoy Hawaii and thanks so much for having us photograph your wedding!!

Love the lake!  Columbia Lake, that is…about a half hour east of Hartford.

That’s where Erin and Lee held their beautifully relaxed tented wedding at Erin’s parents’ lakeside home.  The lake was a perfect backdrop for both the pre-ceremony cocktail hour (with lots of James Taylor playing) and the very emotional ceremony, with Erin and Lee’s custom vows, on the stone patio leading to the dock.  A great couple and really supportive, loving parents, relatives and friends.  It’s so nice to see.

Erin loves bluebirds and their colors inspired the pretty palette of oranges and blues…from the gorgeous ranunculus flowers (courtesy of Erin’s sister) to the dresses, ties and even the Bellinis passed around at cocktail time–and the bottles of Sauvignon Blanc adorned with bluebirds.  Erin and Lee love dogs as well, and their good natured chocolate Lab Gus was looking dapper in his orange tie!  They had many vintage details including a bouquet made entirely of English broaches that Erin found on Etsy.  And Erin’s beautiful unique dress came from a shop in Venice she visited with her sister.

Their wedding had a little of everything…a reading from Plato’s Symposium (Erin’s brother) to a limerick toast (by Lee’s brothers).  There was a photo tent with backdrop and chalk board, put to great use by everyone, and a cool full moon over the lake.  Lastly, we’ve eaten many wedding meals and we must say that Chatterley’s Catering was one of the best ever!  We’ll have to check them out up in New Hartford.

Erin and Lee, enjoy the Vineyard!!  Thanks so much for having us photograph your wedding!
