We had a great time last Saturday photographing Catherine and Chris’s fun and festive wedding at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in Wellesley MA.  The MHS is located right near the Boston Marathon route and, this being Boston, is the oldest horticultural society in the US.

Catherine and Chris have infectious smiles…you can clearly see they how they complement one another and fit together as a couple.  In fact, Catherine’s sister Caroline gave a hilarious toast comparing their personalities using the Myers-Briggs profiles (ESFJ vs. INFP if memory serves)….very funny!

Jane was in love with Catherine’s Amsale Tyler dress–you may have seen it…it was the dress from the movie “The Hangover”!  It was nice working with Heather from Simply Inviting Weddings, their wedding planner.  Jennifer Cahill of The Tangled Web Floral Design provided the beautiful flowers and Greg Hodges of 5 Star Events did a great job as their DJ.

Catherine and Chris, thanks very much for having us document your day…enjoy your honeymoon!!

We traveled up to Connecticut’s “Quiet Corner” for Meghan and Brendan’s beautiful outdoor wedding at the Lord Thompson Manor, the picture-perfect country estate in Thompson CT.

The Inn has all the right details for creating the perfect atmosphere for their wedding…from the clubby billiard room to the intimate dining rooms…and the huge grounds with several stone fireplaces that draw people outside.  The food really stands out too…not surprising, their chefs are James Beard Foundation award winners.

Meghan and Brendan’s gorgeous flowers were provided by Laurie Lemek, mother of Meghan’s Maid of Honor, Danielle.  And Alyce Bertz, Gary Bertz and their daughter Lilly Bertz performed the music during the ceremony and cocktail hour…very nice.

We love the song Daughter that was Meghan’s choice for her dance with her dad.  And a dance surprise kicked off late night for Brendan (Yankees fan) and Meghan (Red Sox Nation) when their friends & family did a Yankees vs. Sox dance-off to the Cupid Shuffle.  As Sebbie, our 6 year old writes, “Red Sox rule, Yankeys drule, Yankeys go to baby school.” (sic)…or maybe the other way around : }

Meghan and Brendan, thanks so much for having us photograph your wonderful wedding!  And buon viaggio…enjoy Italy!

“You’re the real deal” John wrote in his heartfelt letter to Athena, read in their ceremony last Saturday in Essex in a wonderfully warm and fun Connecticut shore wedding.  Athena and John are a great couple and their wedding day really came together beautifully.

In her letter to John, Athena talked about how she’d been thinking about this day and planning her wedding for a long, long time.  Athena grew up in Essex CT (aka, the Best Small Town in America) and wanted her wedding outdoors in the Essex park overlooking the water.

So, precisely at 3:45pm, the downpour stopped, and they held their ceremony outdoors–and it was just great.  The reception at the Essex Yacht Club under a Sperry Tent was also perfect..and the sun shone throughout the cocktail party.

The nautically-inspired red, white, yellow and blue theme was striking and classic coastal New England (the blue striping reminded me of the cabanas at the Chappy Beach Club on Martha’s Vineyard).  And the guys’ Nantucket Red pants (and Nantucket Red cocktails) rounded out the New England feel.

Everyone got ready at our favorite, The Griswold Inn.  We really enjoyed working again with our friends Lindsay and Talia from Sixpence Events who, in addition to all their planning, also design the stationery, seating cards and paper for their wedding.  The preppy flowers were from Hana Floral Design of Mystic.  And DJ Rob played just the right playlist for dinner and dancing to make everyone happy.

Athena and John, fantastic wedding…thanks so much for having us document it for you!!
