Megan and Hugh’s Wedding at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT
We had the pleasure of photographing Megan and Hugh’s very fun wedding last weekend at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme. A break in the June gloom allowed for some sunny weather for a beautiful Connecticut shoreline wedding.
Megan got ready in the Black Point area of Niantic where 40 years ago this summer Mike vacationed (watching Apollo 11 touch down on the moon). Hugh got ready at the classic New England Old Lyme Inn just across the street from the Flo Gris. Before heading to Flo Gris we stopped for shots at Megan’s uncle’s beautiful Buttonball Farm in Old Lyme.
At the Flo Gris, The HOE band played great old school bluegrass and country banjo-bass and acoustic guitar music, setting a really nice mood for the outdoor cocktail hour.
Megan’s mom sang beautifully at Christ the King Church in Old Lyme. Then Hugh’s sister delivered a smooth
rendition of The Little River Band’s “Reminiscing” for Megan and Hugh’s first dance. And Hugh’s cousin began his toast by
crooning the opening lines to “Lady” by Styx. Kind of felt like 1978…
After touching speeches by family and friends it was party time, led by “Table 4″….the Oregon and San Francisco friends who cut loose with their Oregon Duck yellow napkin headbands and armbands.
A Thyme to Cook from Stonington did a great job decorating and catering the event. (Note the nice vintage cake-topper from Megan’s parents’ wedding).
Megan and Hugh, thanks very much for having us photograph your wedding!

Johanna and Gerome’s Wedding at the Peace Pagoda in MA
Despite all the rain recently, there was brilliant sunshine at the Peace Pagoda in Leverett, Massachusetts last Saturday as Johanna and Gerome exchanged vows in their personal and even meditative ceremony. A highlight was the singing of the gospel song “This Little Light of Mine”- led by Johanna’s brother–as the wedding party and family and friends proceeded from the tent after the ceremony.
Their reception was down the road in Sunderland at the Blue Heron Restaurant, a foodie mecca for the region, which also has beautiful moody light for photography. We heard it was originally a school, which explains the stage upstairs in the reception ballroom. Adding to the cocktail hour mood were the acoustic and bass sounds of the Swing Caravan out of Northampton, and Ari of Beat Train Productions from Boston was spinning classic vinyl records upstairs at the reception. Both were great.
As a side note: this area of Massachusetts–know as the Upper Pioneer Valley or Five Colleges region–is really beautiful with lots of farm fields (reminiscent of the midwest) along with the great colleges and museums.
Johanna and Gerome, we really enjoyed photographing your wedding–thanks!

Amanda and Matt’s Wedding in Fairfield, Connecticut
It was a classic garden party wedding last weekend for Amanda and Matt in Fairfield, Connecticut. From the the coolest ride to and from the ceremony–a 1950s cherry red Chevrolet pickup—to the gorgeous lawn and gardens (complete with Guinea hens) of Amanda’s parents’ home, this was a classy yet relaxed wedding.
Great seeing Agnella and Stephen, whose fun wedding to we photographed last summer, dancing with a big crowd enjoying Amanda’s “late night dance party” that kicked off after dinner in the clear-ceiling tent to the sounds of Total Soul band.
It was nice meeting Donna Berg of Donna B. Productions in NYC who planned their wedding, along with Plum Catering of Cos Cob, and Amanda’s makeup artist, Jill Keogh. And Botanica of Westport provided the lovely flowers.
A beautiful couple with wonderful families…thanks Amanda and Matt!
