Get ready for some True Romance!  Shannon and Mike go way back to attending grade school together, growing up on the coast in Madison CT.  We had the pleasure of photographing their wedding in September at the Weekapaug Inn, the secluded getaway overlooking Block Island Sound,  just down the shore from Watch Hill RI.

Mike’s wedding present to Shannon was super thoughtful–a handmade memory book with everything from school notes they passed to pictures and items they’ve exchanged over the years.  Shannon’s present to Mike was spot-on…a Bose speaker system–Mike’s an acoustic guitar player and singer–you can catch him on Sunday afternoons at the classic Tap Room of the Griswold Inn in Essex CT.

The rain held off for the outdoor ceremony officiated by Mike’s father, and didn’t dampen spirits one bit–this was a real celebration–funky and eclectic, from the old-school vinyl records Mike played for the ceremony to Shannon’s cool Valentino Rockstud shoes.  And–this being Rhode Island–guests drank an adult version of Rhode Island’s Del’s Lemonade.  More musical touches included Shannon and her dad’s dance to Smokey Robinson’s “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me” (great father-daughter song) and a custom vinyl-looking DVD of classic tunes for all guests.  A real highlight was the speeches–the intimate setting inside the tent in the rain was perfect for hearing so many stories.  And it was so nice to see Matthew and Kaitlin again–Jane and I photographed their Watch Hill – Charlestown RI wedding a few years back.

Shannon and Mike, wishing you many years of happiness!!  Thanks so much for having us capture your wedding day in pictures!

Madison Beach Club Wedding: Laura and John!

What a summer send-off!  Back in early September, with the temperature nudging the 90s and the salt marshes in the background, Laura and John were married in Laura’s parents’ backyard in Madison CT–quite fitting for this Connecticut Shore couple!

Their Madison Beach Club wedding celebration continued where the sea breeze kicked in on schedule to cool things off.  The Club’s setting–with the beach &  boats in soft pastel light–was ideal for photographing Laura and John all around the waterfront.

Following a warm and funny welcome from Laura’s father, touching speeches from their siblings really showed how close sisters and brothers can be.  Then everyone danced like crazy to the super cool Marcus Reid Band from Hank Lane who put on a great concert–definitely check them out if you’re getting married–modern, hip, fun and interactive.  A true Connecticut Shore wedding, from the oyster shell motifs to the knotty pine inside the 70 year old Madison Beach Club.  Nice working with Beth and Colleen from Lovely Day Events and kudos to the top vendors like the Madison Flower Shop, cake designer Ana Parzych and La Cuisine catering who made their night special.

Thanks Laura and John for having us photograph your wedding!!  To see many more photos please click here

I love looking at sun-drenched summer weddings when the days grow short right about now.  Kate and Johnny, two free spirits, sure picked a gorgeous August day to get married seaside….at Inn at Longshore in Westport CT.   Relaxing times followed at their cocktail party on the lawn overlooking Long Island Sound with sailboats criss-crossing the water.  Kate wore a beautiful J. Crew flowing dress and led the dancing that ensued as the party moved inside at sundown.  Great cake decorated with laurel leaves, made by Kate’s sister, and a burst of color came from flowers from Events by Peter’s Wholesale Florist.

Congratulations Kate and Johnny! Thanks for having us photograph your day!  To see more photos please click here
