Jonathan Edwards Winery Wedding: Christina and Cullen

Set in the far southeast corner of Connecticut, Stonington–apart from being a beautiful and historic area–is a foodie’s delight.  From the famous Stonington scallops to the steely gewurtztraminer from Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington, the local surf and turf provide all the needed delicacies for a celebration.

Stonington’s also an ideal spot for a country wedding…like Christina and Cullen’s.  The couple began their day in Stonington Borough at The Inn at Stonington.  Christina and Cullen made their way down the CT shore to Old Lyme for their ceremony, where they incorporated Swiss touches (Cullen’s family) such as miniature copper cowbells for guests to ring during their recessional.

Everyone then headed up country to the Jonathan Edwards Winery to celebrate in a most relaxed style that comes naturally at the winery…with their own wine and great cuisine by Russel Morin Catering.   Later on, after the cake cutting, came another fun Swiss touch–when the couple shared a sip from a silver bowl of Champagne…Proscht!

By the way…loved Christina’s Amsale dress and the flowers from Blue Butterfly were so pretty.  Thanks so much Christina and Cullen for having us photograph your wedding!  To see many more photos please click here.

With hints of an early spring, our thoughts turn to…Wedding Season!

One of our favorite places in Connecticut to get married is at Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington CT.  The winery epitomizes the laid back farm-to-table kind of wedding, and the open country setting feels miles away from civilization (in a good way!) while being very accessible to folks from NYC and Boston.  And to boot, Erica Cyr, the Marketing & Event Director at Jonathan Edwards Winery is wonderful to work with!

Relaxed, real and lots of fun, Kim and Mark’s wedding at Jonathan Edwards Winery in North Stonington CT fit them to a T!  It was all farm to table…for wine and food from Russell Morin Fine Catering  while nature abounded in the details:  loved the flowers and table decor from Candi’s Floral Creations who brought texture–ferns, burlap, succulants–into their wedding and in a twist, guests wrote messages to the couple on stones in place of a guest book.

Down in the barrel room, Mark took the mic, reading a poem he’d penned for Kim, followed by his brother’s Kevin nice toast. As dad to two boys it sure resonated for me.  Later on the party headed to the winery tasting room for dancing to the music Bill and Pam from Bill McGoldrick Acoustic Duo who have an edgier coffee house sound…really good.  Great time working with Amy and Megan from event planners Piece of Cake Events  and nice seeing Erica, who runs events at the Winery.  And if you haven’t been, come check out Jonathan Edwards Winery or see their wines in CT wine stores…especially the Connecticut Gewurztraminer, a fine match for CT seafood.
