The Endless Summer.  I used to have that dayglo movie poster on my wall back in the day.  A few weeks ago at Diah and Colin’s wedding, Colin’s brother Andrew–as only one’s siblings can do–recounted the time that his teenage brother, inspired by that surfing movie, handmade his own surfboard…and took to the waters of Long Island Sound on an oddly-shaped, sinking fiberglass creation.  So it was all quite fitting that Colin and Diah were married in the summer, at the seaside–with a gorgeous red-orange sunset for a backdrop at the Riverside Yacht Club in Greenwich CT.

Guests, many who traveled from India, dined under the tent decorated with flowers from Something Special florist,  before hitting to the dance floor bigtime to the high energy sounds of Joe D’Elia and the Allstar Band.   All very relaxed and in-the-moment, right up to the sparkler exit, when Diah &  Colin hopped a getaway on Riverside’s harbor launch.

It was nice to return to the Riverside Yacht Club and a it was pleasure working with Slainte event planners from Madison CT.  Congratulations Diah and Colin and your parents!!  Enjoy your 2nd wedding celebration in India…and thanks for having us photograph your day!

Weddings have (at least) two sides to them.  There’s the pretty décor and all the attention to detail that makes for a beautiful event.  And there’s the emotional significance of what’s happening that day–the forming of a family.  Maddie and Dave’s exuberant wedding and reception at the Riverside Yacht Club in Greenwich CT united these two elements so well into a gorgeous event that was also full of meaning.

Oh, where to begin..let’s start with the details.  First a shout out to Maddie who did a tremendous job with the dozens of wedding details!  And great job as well by Kerri-Lynn from Stella Day Events for making it all come together so well!

Maddie wore a beautiful ballgown-style Jenny Packham dress from Gabriella New York Bridal Salon while Dave and the men wore classic off-white dinner jackets, Dave’s from Lord Willys, with the bridesmaids wearing Amsale dresses from The Wedding LibraryLH Calligraphy designed tons of cool paperie from the invitations to the dinner menus, ceremony programs and much more.  Maddie and Dave incorporated ocean motifs including seahorses in the cufflinks to napkins to the raw bar ice sculpture and the colorful cake topper on the vibrant cake from Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes.  Oranges, pinks, reds–major bursts of color abounded, from the beautiful flowers from Lisa Eisenman Salley’s Something Special Flowers, to the candy bar with its psychedelic palette of fruit colors.  Even the tent from Northeast Tent with cool lighting from Social Décor glowed reddish orange against the June sunset.

Now, as for meaning, the emotional toasts from Maddie’s father, Maddie’s Maid of Honor, Callie, and Dave’s brother and Best Man, Stephen, truly set the tone.  Afterwards, Dave in his speech said that he considered everyone gathered under the tent to be family.  Then…it was time to party, led by the Georgetown alums hitting the custom checkerboard dance floor to the sounds of  Hank Lane’s Kevin Osborne Band.  And, to top it all off, Maddie and Dave made a dash through the sparklers to depart Riviera-style on the super cool ’50s Riva Italian powerboat.

A great wedding, congratulations Maddie and Dave!!  Thanks very much for having us document your day!  To see many more photos please click here
