You can read about support systems and getting help from your friends and family when you have a disease.  But this really hit home when I photographed the Hartford Walk MS on April 10 for the Connecticut Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  I saw firsthand how folks with MS got the inspiration and strength from their family and friends (and definitely vice versa), helping them to walk that day.  If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact Heather Campbell at the Hartford MS Society office at hcampbell@ctfightsms.org.  Here are some pics from the walk..to see more click on “Click to view more photos…

Great Futures Start Here–that’s the tagline for the Boys & Girls Clubs.  I’ve always seen Denzel Washington’s ads for the Boys & Girls Club, and a few weeks back Jane and I saw firsthand the huge impact that the Hartford Boys & Girls Club makes in local kids’ lives when we photographed their 600+ person fundraising gala at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.  The Clubs provides that “third place”, other than home and school, where Hartford kids can play, learn, make friends and get mentored.  If you’re looking to get involved in childrens’ lives or wish to donate, please contact them at 860.724.0700.

Hollywood East here we come!  Connecticut’s generous 30% tax credit for making movies has drawn lots of film makers to our fair state.  The latest homegrown movie is Rio, the big animated feature from Blue Sky Studios in Greenwich (owned by 20th Century Fox).  Rio’s premiere at the Connecticut Science Center drew some big names in show biz and politics including former CT Senator Chris Dodd (now the Chairman and CEO of Hollywood’s MPAA), CT Governor Dan Malloy and 20th Century Fox Chairman and CEO, Jim Gianopulos.

A great event, with two showings of Rio for the kids at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the Hartford Boys & Girls Club.  The kids also got a chance to interact with the visual artists who created the creatures in Rio.

It was a pleasure working with Kristin of The Ferris Group and Mary of Coursey & Co., both also based in West Hartford.  Rio is going to be a big hit…Sebbie, our 7 year old, already knows the names of the show’s birds from the Angry Birds Rio game!  To see more pics, click on “Click to view more photos” in pink below.
