Hill-Stead Museum Wedding: Winter Wedding Styled Shoot

A wonderful time partnering with Marina Luri Events, The Hill-Stead Museum and a number of top CT vendors on a winter wedding themed shoot last month.  What a treat to have full access to The Hill-Stead Museum including some rooms never photographed in a wedding context before.  Although not normally available, Theodate Pope’s bedroom was a perfect backdrop to a bridal shoot.  If you haven’t read “Dearest of Geniuses:  The Life of Theodate Pope Riddle” by Sandra Katz, and you are interested in The Hill-Stead, pick up this must read.  We noticed that we didn’t see a lot of winter wedding ideas on display at these types of venues vs. typical dark ballrooms – and wanted to show the fun that can be had by adding a little fur, a little dog and a red sled.  Enjoy and thank you to the following contributors to a great day:

Planning and Design – Marina Luri Events
Bride – Sylvie Weinstock
Groom – Michael Gaudoin
Bride’s Dress – Modern Trousseau New Haven
Groom’s Tux – Oscars Tux
Rentals – Party Rental Ltd
Sofa/Lounge – AFR Furniture Rental

We have always loved Domino Magazine and we are so excited that they wanted to include Becca and James’ wedding image and a quote from us in their current feature about monochromatic weddings “How to Create a Chic, Monochromatic Ceremony Space” by Allix Cott.  We were subscribers of Domino Magazine from it’s inception and have purchased their Decorating Book and Guide to a Stylish Home as gifts a number of times over the years so we definitely qualify as fans!  We also love the monochromatic trend…whether for a wedding or our latest home project…the mudroom…think cream cabinets, knobs, walls and ceiling (with a dark slate-ish floor).
