A few weeks after we moved into our West Hartford Center studio, Dr. Melissa Lambright–who owns SIGHT, a boutique eye care and eye wear studio in West Hartford–walked in to introduce herself and talk photography.

We’ve since developed a really nice friendship–and we’ve photographed her staff and store for her updated website.  We recently interviewed Dr. Lambright on her practice…if you’re in need of eye care in the Hartford area check out SIGHT on 17 South Main Street right in West Hartford Center.  Here’s our Q&A..and you can read more here.

Your business, SIGHT, is all about eye care and eyewear.  This combination of the medical and fashion fields suit you particularly well, would you agree?

I agree that SIGHT is the perfect marriage of the latest advances in eye care, with the most fashion forward, designer eye wear collections that are available exclusively in our boutique.  We make it a priority to find cutting edge techniques and therapies to perform eye examinations and offer specialized treatments, as well as eyewear that sets new trends in design and leads the way in innovative ideas.  We are on a continuous quest to provide our patients with unique access to the best of everything.

You live and work in the West Hartford Center.  What do you like most about the Center?

I love being part of this community both professionally and personally.  It affords me the opportunity to serve the community where I live. I relish riding my bike to work, and having access to the best restaurants, shops, services and entertainment.  What I value most are the friendly waves, the familiar faces and ringing my bell to say hello as I head to work to see my first patient of the day.

What’s the secret to getting eyeglasses that look good on a person’s face?

Our mantra is: “the details make the difference”.  Once we know your eyes, we ensure they’re framed perfectly with our exclusive selection of distinctive eyewear from around the world.  Our consultations are truly personalized, and our staff really dedicates a great deal of time to help patients choose from the highest quality collections.  We look at eyewear from every angle- the bridge fit, the proportion, the color, and the anti-glare coating.

I would also say that our offerings are predicated on quality, not labels. We have collections made by independent designers such as Mykita, SALT, Bevel, Hoffman Horn and Orgreen that are designed for the individual, not the mass market.  The level of craftsmanship in these brands makes a tremendous difference in the look, feel and fit. And the incredible materials guarantee that the frames have longevity- maintaining their color, finish and fit.  These are the independent brands that give you access to style-setting designs before they are imitated for the mass market.

She can see for miles and miles!  Last Wednesday night, Jane joined nine other SIGHT Visionaries (including West Hartford Restaurateur Billy Grant) who were celebrated for their foresight by West Hartford’s SIGHT Eye Health.

Dr. Melissa Lambright, founder of  SIGHT,  noted, “What all of these ‘change agents’ have in common is that they possess not only a clear vision of the future, but also a clear sense of how to get there.”  Jane and her posse of friends enjoyed the event put on by good friend Stacy Rome of marketing firm Brand New with help from another good friend, Marina from Marina Luri Events, enjoying delicious food from Riverhouse Catering.  Fun night—Dr. Lambright’s a visionary herself who has pulled together terrific team of upbeat folks who really embrace high-touch service.

The Visionaries included Billy Grant, Restaurateur/Founder Billy Grant Dining; David Jacobs, Executive Director of Mandell JCC; Julie Daly Meehan, HYPE Executive Director and Director of Investor Engagement & Digital Media at MetroHartford Alliance; Roxanna Booth Miller, Co-Director & Chief Development Officer of the Hartford Youth Scholars Foundation; Kimberly Mattson Moster, Owner Kimberly Boutiques and kimberly Gift; Jane Shauck, Founder IRIS Photography and Jane Shauck Photography; Sheila Schectman, CEO of American Gourmet Group and Hebert Candies; Laura Schmelter, Director of Resource Development at United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut; Cheryl Dumont Smith, Executive Director of Aurora Women and Girls Foundation; and Will K.
